Choose to Re-Use, Dare to Repair

The Central Aid Furniture Project is one of the exhibitors at the Envrionment Centre's current exhibition in High Wycombe:

"Choose to Re-Use, Dare to Repair"

It runs from Saturday September 13th to Sunday November 9th, and is packed with ideas to make you think about what you buy and use. We are providing a display to encourage people to think about the lifecycles of what they buy. As well as donating unwanted items to projects like ours, that also means thinking of repairing, restoring or buying second-hand before buying new furniture. As almost all our own operations have to be financed from sales income, we can only save a small fraction of furniture from the dump as our resources are limited.

One way to help reduce the amount of furniture sent to landfill is to support your remaining local second-hand furniture outlets (charity shops, projects and commercial ventures) by buying from them - if they become economically unviable then they will simply cease to exist.
